Last updated 14 October 2026. This describes the public preview and the iPhone, iPad and Android apps as they behave today.
You can study without an account. Optional accounts use Google sign-in or an email and password, through Google Firebase Authentication. Email is sent through Brevo. There is no payment processing or analytics provider.
What is stored
Answers, bookmarks, completed lessons, saved runs and study choices are kept in your browser. From Study account, you can turn on automatic account sync. Signing in never imports browser history without your choice. If sync is already on for your account, its own record loads after the server checks your identity.
Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication. If you use an email and password, your browser sends them straight to Firebase; this site never sees or stores your password. Firebase gives the site your account ID, email address and, with Google sign-in, your name. After sign-in the site sets one cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days, or until you sign out. Your name or email is shown while signed in. The study database stores your account ID, storage consent time, update time and study record. It does not store your name or password, and it stores your email address only if you turn on the optional daily email (see Email below).
Account storage is used to save and recover your work. It does not authorize advertising or learner research. Content notes in your study record are your own notes; saving a note only does not send it.
When you choose Send report or send an accessibility report, the report service stores the report, the question or page reference, the answer you had selected, your note, the content version and the time. It identifies the sender only by your signed-in account ID or, without an account, by a one-way digest of a random key this browser creates; no email or name is stored with a report. Only the owner can read reports, to review and correct content. Reports are not used for advertising, learner research or outcome analysis. This browser keeps the report and its status until you clear site data.
If you are signed in and start a full-length exam, the exam service stores that sitting with your account ID: the form, your selections, flags, timing and, after you submit, the graded result. It also records which exam questions you have been shown and when, so a final exam counts as a first sitting only once and a later sitting is marked as a repeat. These records are shown only to you and are used only to run and grade your exams. They are kept with your account until you delete them on the full-length exam page, which removes every sitting, answer, result and record of which questions you were shown. One thing is kept: for each final exam you had already seen, a marker made of that final’s name, the month you first saw it and a one-way keyed code derived from your account ID. It holds no questions, answers or scores, is not shown to anyone, and is used only so that a final you have already seen is labeled a repeat rather than a fresh first sitting. The marker is ignored after 12 months and removed the next time the exam service reads it. To have it removed sooner, ask through the support page (see Contact below).
Course analysis is optional and separate. If you are signed in and agree to it on the Study account page, your synced study record may be analyzed to improve questions and to check whether practice leads to better later answers. The analysis uses which questions you answered, whether each answer was right, how long it took and when, and which daily tasks you completed, linked only to a random study ID, never your name, email or account ID. It never uses your notes or report text. You can withdraw at any time; later analysis then leaves you out, and deleting your synced work removes it from any later analysis. Studying never depends on this choice.
The readiness page is computed from your own study record: in this browser if you are not signed in, or from your account if you are. Nothing is sent anywhere to compute it. If you are signed in you may choose to record your real exam result (passed or not, and the date). It is stored only with your explicit consent, kept with your account, shown only to you, and you can delete it on the readiness page at any time. It is not used for any prediction, advertising or sharing; once enough learners have chosen to record a result, results may be used in aggregate only to check whether the readiness evidence bars are set sensibly.
Account sync stores answers, lesson and practice progress, timed study summaries, study choices, bookmarks, completed lessons and content notes. It also keeps private receipts for accepted requests and study events, so retries do not duplicate work. An unfinished timed run remains in this browser. Functional sync does not authorize advertising, learner research or outcome analysis.
Sync starts only after you allow storage and choose an empty account record or explicitly bring your browser record. The original browser copy stays separate. Automatic updates use the signed-in account; hiding the page, signing out or changing accounts prevents an old account request from being accepted as another account’s work.
Synced account work stays until you delete it from Account. Browser account and recovery copies stay until you remove them there or clear site data. There is no automatic retention job. Download copies before removal if you need them.
Large synced records are sent and read in smaller parts. Until an upload is complete and checked, it does not replace the confirmed account record. Unfinished upload parts are cleared when a sync is saved or synced account work is deleted. An upload with no part updated for more than 24 hours can be removed during an account read or upload. Account reads clear old uploads in small batches, including uploads from other accounts. These parts can remain longer if there is no account traffic or a cleanup backlog. There is no scheduled cleanup job.
Account sync supports study records up to 8 MB. Your browser can reach its own storage limit sooner. If a save fails, keep the page open and download the study and recovery copies before closing it.
From Study account, you can download a full synced account archive: the server’s current study record and all retained accepted study events in that sync record. The current study download and browser recovery archive are separate. The server archive does not include unsent browser work. Downloaded files contain your study data; keep them private.
We send email from exemplarprep.com through Brevo, our email service. Brevo receives the address and the message in order to deliver it, and keeps its own delivery logs under its retention policy. We do not track whether you open an email or click a link: there are no tracking pixels, links go straight to this site, and tracking is turned off in our Brevo account.
Account email. When you ask for a password reset or a new confirm-your-email link, or delete your account, we send one email to the account’s address. The links in it open on exemplarprep.com. To stop these requests being misused, we keep for one day a keyed one-way code of the address (at most three links of a kind per address per day) and for one hour a keyed one-way code of your network address (at most five requests an hour). Neither code is the address itself.
Daily SIE question (optional). It is off unless you turn it on from Study account, and you can only turn it on for an email address you have confirmed. If you turn it on, we store your email address, your time zone (so it arrives at about nine in the morning your time), your choice with its date and wording version, a history of your choices, and a random code for the unsubscribe link. For each email we keep a delivery record: the day, which practice question was sent, whether Brevo accepted it, and Brevo’s message ID. After you first turn it on we send one welcome email. Every email has an unsubscribe link that works without signing in; you can also turn it off on Study account. Turning it off stops future emails at once.
If Brevo tells us that mail to an address bounced for good, that the address is invalid or blocked, or that someone marked our email as spam, we keep a one-way code made from that address (a hash, not the address) so we do not send to it again, and a spam report also turns the daily question off. This code is kept after the account is deleted, so a deleted account’s address is not mailed by mistake.
Deleting your account
From Study account, signed in within the last 15 minutes, you can delete your account. This removes your synced study record and its saved study events, your full-length exam sittings, answers, results and the record of what you were shown in those exams, the final-exam markers for your account, a recorded exam result, your course-analysis choice, your email settings, consent history and pending emails, and your sign-in account with Firebase. Reports you sent are kept so we can fix the content, but the link to your account is removed. We then send one email to confirm the deletion; the address is not kept.
Two small records stay: the account ID with the time of deletion, so a browser that is still signed in cannot write to the deleted account, and the empty sync marker described under Clearing your data. Study in your browser, browser recovery copies, downloaded files and the apps are not touched. The host’s security logs and platform recovery copies, and Brevo’s delivery logs, follow their own retention policies.
Android beta
If you sign up on the Android beta page, the site keeps your email address and the time you signed up. It is used only to add you to the Google Play closed test and to send you two emails about it: that you are on the list, and the install link. The owner adds the address to the test in Google Play Console, which Google then holds under its own privacy policy. The address is not used for anything else, and the site deletes it 30 days after the Android app is public. To be removed sooner, email the support address below.
Page counts
To learn which pages help people start studying, this site keeps one number per day for each page: how many times it was opened, split by the page you were on before or, for the first page of a visit, the kind of site you came from (for example a search engine, an AI assistant or Reddit). Nothing else is kept: no cookie, no ID, no IP address, no device or browser details and no time of day, so a count cannot be linked to you or to other visits. Counting is off when your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. The study apps send nothing.
What is not collected
- No passwords. Firebase Authentication checks them; this site never receives them.
- No payment details. Nothing is for sale in this preview.
- No advertising or behavioral tracking, and no third-party analytics scripts.
- No sale of study records. Hosting providers process data to run and protect this site.
The iPhone, iPad and Android apps
The Exemplar apps for iPhone, iPad and Android collect no data. They have no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and they make no network requests with your study. Your answers, lessons, plan, timed runs, reports, notes and settings are saved in the app’s storage on your device, where the app’s widgets read a short summary of today’s plan. Your device’s own backups, such as iCloud Backup or Android backup to your Google account, can include that storage, as they can for any app. You control those backups in your device’s settings.
Nothing leaves your device unless you choose it. Export my study record makes a file and you choose where it goes; keep it private. Source links open in your browser. Reminders are scheduled by your device’s system (iOS, iPadOS or Android) on that device. Reports and notes you save from a question stay on your device. To delete everything, use Erase study in the app’s You page (the button names your device, such as Erase study on this iPhone or Erase study on this phone), or delete the app.
Hosting
The site is served by our hosting provider, which processes ordinary web-server request data such as IP address and user agent in order to deliver pages and protect the service. We do not build profiles from it.
Clearing your data
Clear the separate browser study record from Support. Delete synced account work, browser account/recovery copies or your whole account from Study account, or clear all local copies with your browser’s site-data settings. Server deletion does not erase browser recovery copies or downloads. Signing out hides account work but does not erase the device’s stored bytes. Keep shared devices private.
After synced work or the account is deleted, the live study database keeps a small marker with the account user ID and save sequence so a delayed request cannot restore the deleted record. Deleting synced work removes its study content, storage consent and old event receipts from the live database. The host’s own security logs and platform recovery copies follow its retention policy. Downloaded files remain on your device until you delete them.
Children
The SIE is open to people aged 18 and over. This product is not directed at children and no age verification is performed.
