SIE pass rate

What FINRA has said about the SIE pass rate.

FINRA does not post an SIE pass rate on its SIE pages. In a 2026 rule filing it said over 70 percent of individuals pass the SIE, the Series 7 and the Series 24 on the first attempt, based on 2024 first attempts.1,2,3

The figure, and what it covers

The figure comes from the economic analysis in FINRA’s filing to shorten the retest waiting periods, published in the Federal Register on July 16, 2026.3,4,5

  • It counts candidates whose first attempt was in 2024.3
  • It is stated for three exams at once: the SIE, the Series 7 and the Series 24. FINRA gave no separate figure for each.3
  • It says "over 70 percent", not an exact number.3

What the same filing says about retakes

  • 65 percent of people who fail the SIE take it a second time.3
  • 23 percent of individuals make a second SIE attempt as quickly as possible, within 30 to 34 days.3
  • 40 percent of those who take the SIE a second time wait more than 60 days.3

What a pass rate cannot tell you

A group figure says nothing about one person’s result. Your own practice accuracy, by section, is a better guide to what to study next. It is not a prediction either.

Figures quoted elsewhere online without a FINRA source are not repeated here.
